Citizen Watch Continuing Care in Alberta and the Seniors' Action and Liaison Team www.continuingcarewatch.com

30 November 2008 Hon. Ron Liepert, Minister of Health and Wellness Dear Mr. Liepert, Thank you for your September 29, 2008 response to our MLA Bulletin 3, The Senate Report on Issues and Options for an Aging Population and Home Care Issues. As you may be aware, Bulletins 3 and 5 addressed home care concerns in Alberta, and the general focus of all past and future Bulletins are and will continue to be eldercare issues in this province. However, the system in Alberta cannot be divorced from the broader Canadian context, in which Alberta could be a leader. Citizen Watch and SALT initiated the MLA Bulletin project because we believe the process of reforming the continuing care system will be significantly assisted by the dissemination of relevant information, and by providing opportunities for dialogue between the government and the primary stakeholders the public and particularly seniors (and those who will soon be seniors) and their families and communities. We hope you will continue to read our Bulletins, and welcome your participation in this dialogue. As we indicated in our first MLA Bulletin communication (May 21, 2008), we are posting all correspondence on the www.continuingcare.com website, in the MLA Bulletin section. We would appreciate an opportunity to meet with you to discuss some of our concerns about continuing care health services. Carol Wodak, on behalf of Citizen Watch and SALT cc. Premier Ed Stelmach
